Went out to lunch with my boyfriend today to our favorite little restaurant in Princeton. Since he did the ADA's "Step Up for Diabetes" Walk in Philly last year, they sent him info on the Tour de Cure recently.
Looks like there is one in Philly in May and one right here in Princeton in June! He is an avid cyclist, and has even built me my very own road bike. I've been riding it since last summer, but wonder if I am ready for a 30-40 mile ride?! At least we could do it as a team.
They give you a choice of 10, 30, or 62.3 miles for the Princeton tour and 15, 40, or 62.3 for Philly. So I am probably opting for Princeton's 30 mile ride (which gives me an extra month to train). I will have to start taking longer rides and messing around with temporary basals, hydration and snacking... I just figured out my perfect temp basals for my 1 hour Kickboxing classes, so this will be a new experiment. It doesn't hurt that there will be rest stops loaded with snacks and plenty of other people stopping to check their blood sugar =)
Has anyone done the Tour de Cure?

Hey Carly,
Check out insulinfactor.com. I think they have a yahoo groups mailing list you can sign up on - lots of very helpful active PWD's that will happily answer your Q's.
I know I've seen them talk about different Tour de Cure rides before.
